BBC L6C1 Man Needs a Mediator

Requirements for Redemption
What is the primary need man? Answer: Eternal Life
What were the challenges facing God in His need to redeem mankind from Spiritual Death?
Eternal Life is only provided in Righteousness.
Righteousness is the second need of man. (A requirement for the redemption process)

There is Sin and Spiritually Dead Man on one side and Righteous and Eternal God on the other.
What options are available to God? Who desires to redeem Man? A Mediator.
A Mediator then becomes the third requirement in this redemption plan.

Mans Position with God
Estranged. Ephesians 2:1-5
There are Indications in the spirit of man that He desires fellowship with deity. This is revealed in Temples, Alters, Worships, priesthoods.
There is also an indication that man is aware of his Sin and would want to do something about it.

II Man's Condition before God
There is a vital Union (Identification) of man and Satan. Colossians 1:13, Ephesians 2:2, 1 John 3:10

Man is identified with Satan
Man is alienated from God John 16:11, Ephesians 4:18, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Romans 3: 9-18 Man's Condition and position revealed.
God declares Man as lost, (Romans 3:10) in his condition of spiritual death.
Ephesians 2:12 shows us that covenants are surety (safety net) that God provides his love for Man. Hebrews 13:5-6.

Genesis 3
Why did Adam hide from God? Did Adam perceive any changes in his fellowship with God? Why couldn't Adam discuss whatever was wrong with God?

The need of a Mediator
There need of a Mediator is apparent.
What does a Mediator do? And would the Mediator do? In the light of the knowledge that Man is Sinful and has no place before God, and God is Righteousness personified cannot accommodate sin. Discuss possible options for the Mediator.

A man to man and God to God
The Mediator has to be both man and God at the same time. That's why Adam had to be prevented from the tree of Life.

God Intervenes
In Genesis 3:21 God shows Man the way to approach Him and in Genesis 4:4 Abel pleases God with his sacrifice.

Before the victory of Jesus between the fall and Jesus ascension to the throne,
ONLY Divinely appointed priesthood over bleeding sacrifice, dreams, Visions. or angelic visitations
were the only methods of approach to God.
