L4C1 Lesson 4 Class 1 The Reign of Spiritual Death March 7, 20181. Introduction
From our last lesson and in Romans 5:12-17 Sin has entered the life of man. Sin and death by sin came into man’s life. Man therefore lost his will to the devil and Sin now rules in the affairs of Man. Romans 6:16. Remember all creation survive by their Creator.
2. The Fallen man
Consequently man is estranged from God and naturally alienated and against God. Man has become a child of Satan and acts as such. Ephesians 2:1-5.
He Acts in accordance with Satan's nature
There is no other reason why man should engage in organized sin except that his will and his Spirit are in conformity with it.
It was the will of God that man should eat of the tree of Life and be like Him. But man rejected it by his choice and fell.
3. The Will
The will has a supreme position in the scheme of things. Using your will in a situation dispels any disagreements, doubts and suspicions. It cannot be argued. It is what the individual has Willed to do. When one wills something all other options are by definition rejected. Matthew 6:24 A man cannot serve two Masters.
Note: Half hearted approach is not by will but by suspicion and doubt. Such a person is not dependable. James 1:18
Three Wills
As we discussed in the previous lesson there are three 3 Spirits that are in operation in the universe.
• The Spirit of God
• The Spirit of Man
• The Spirit of the Devil
There are therefore the wills.
• The Will of God
• The Will of Man and
• The Will of the Devil
Explain why Wills are the same as the Spirits. Willing is an activity of the Spirit.
When man attempted to exercise and flex himself as another player in the exercise of his will. He rejected what God has offered (The tree of Life) and became in bondage to the devil. There is no middle! God's will or Satan's will.
4. The beginning of the Reign of Spiritual Death
When Adam obeyed the voice of the devil His will now became in bondage to the devil. His Spirit and his will are now on different sides. His power and control left him. Everything is no more working the way it should. Adam himself is now a strange individual.
Satan's nature (will) has taken over, and Adam's will is ineffective. Romans 6:16.
It follows that by the fall and by definition that Adam is a child of wrath (one that invokes the Anger of God). Ephesians 2:3. Good fellowship with God is gone! Genesis 3:8-13. That is why he should be cast out of the Garden. He cannot fellowship with God again. Genesis 3:22-24.
God had a plan. Adam must not have access to the tree of Life now because a being having the two natures would be dangerous and more importantly could not be delivered by righteousness.
